Welcome

I'm a photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I have shot a variety of projects, including portraits, fine art landscapes and product photography for businesses. I have also shot motorsports for something a little more challenging. In my spare time, I'm currently working on a timelapse series of New Zealand having recently included Lake Tekapo and Aoraki (Mount Cook) to the list.

Pisa, Italy

The best way to wait for a train anywhere involves sitting in a bar in the sun/shade with a glass of rosé.

After getting out of the Pisa airport we headed straight to the tower to get the most touristy part of our trip out of the way. It's a tower. It leans. That's about all I can say about it. My OCD doesnt like things wonky so I can't say it was a highlight. I took the token photo of it (with Snapchat no less, dont even think I got my actual camera out) and then we went off to find a place to lunch.

Our train to Firenze wasn't for a couple for hours so we found this quiet but central cafe (La Bottega del Parco SRL) near the train station to spend some time relaxing in the sun / shade.

Yep, still leaning...

Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II is a large square in front of the central railway station. The center of the square is home to a monument of Vittorio Emanuele the Second, originally King of Sardinia and later the first King of (unified) Italy since the 6th century.

He married his first cousin (as I imagine was quite the norm back then) and she had 8 of his 16 children. They call him the Father of Italy, but I suspect that has more to do with the whole King of unified Italy business.

Just before we boarded the train I discovered an Italian McDonalds in the station. I had to order fries, because its Italian McDonalds.  Emma was mortified but because of her higher than mine standards we have this delightful image of me sitting on my suitcase eating Italian fries at the Pisa Centrale Train Station.
