And finally around two months later I am getting my head around the controls and able to take some very cool photos with it. 

I also found out why Cornwall Park is a no fly zone. There was no one around and I had it in my bag so I thought a few minutes of flying just straight up wouldn't hurt. Lesson learned.

The nesting Australian magpies did not agree with the drone being present and rightly so started swooping. I shut down as soon as this occurred, the drone was in flight for no more than 30 seconds before they decided it was not for them. 

However the damage was done and the magpies escorted me back to my car. Even hiding the drone itself was not enough as they continued to defend their nests against me, the co-conspirator of this humming red bird. 

Having never had this problem in our backyard, which is frequented by tui, kingfishers and more, it certainly makes you aware of how even a simple action can affect others, human, avian or otherwise.
