Welcome
I'm a photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I have shot a variety of projects, including portraits, fine art landscapes and product photography for businesses. I have also shot motorsports for something a little more challenging.
In my spare time, I'm currently working on a timelapse series of New Zealand having recently included Lake Tekapo and Aoraki (Mount Cook) to the list.

New Backyard, New Visitors
Last year I posted about a pretty cool visitor to my backyard (check it out here) and when I had to move from Whenuapai I was a little bit disappointed that living closer to the city I might not get as many opportunities to see New Zealand bird life quite as close up.
My first day in the new house brought with it some beautiful Kingfishers flying about outside the kitchen window. I was busy unpacking however, so just took it as a good sign of things to come.
So the bad news first. Having an (incredibly small) portion of bush area behind your house isn't always great... the downstairs level of the house is like a jungle if you make the mistake of leaving your window open in the evening. Last night I simultaneously had to remove both a cricket and the insect that cannot be named from my room at 1am. Crickets, spiders and most insects don't bother me. Even snakes and bears (and one particular time - a skunk) do not worry me in the slightest. But she who cannot be named does. In the panic inducing, hysterically crying, irrational way. It's not pretty. And I know that it's irrational. But I can't help it. They literally turn me into a damsel in distress.
But the good news is, that incredibly small portion of bush brings with it some of the wild bird life I had at my old house. The shots in this post came from the balcony the other day (Every damsel in distress needs a balcony, thank you for the life lessons Juliet).
