I'm a photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. While I have shot a variety of projects, including weddings and portraits, my strengths are fine art landscapes and product photography for businesses. I also shoot motorsports and headshots. My landscapes are available for purchase as canvas prints or digital download for web use. I am also available for product photography projects. Get in touch for more information.

New Backyard, New Visitors Last year I posted about a pretty cool visitor to my backyard (check it out here) and when I had to move from Whenuapai I was a little bit disappointed that living closer to the city I might not get as many opportunities to see New Zealand bird life quite as close up. My first day in the new house brought with it some beautiful Kingfishers flying about outside the kitchen window. I was busy unpacking however, so just took it as a good sign of things to come. So the bad news first. Having an (incredibly small) portion of bush area behind your house isn't To View More >>

Recently I shot Sparky at Woodhill Forest up at Muriwai Beach. He's a funny old thing, doesn't take much to being ordered around, will not pose on command and pretty much just looks at you all the time like you're ridiculous. It's remarkably hard work to shoot a horse, but a lot of fun. For the full album click here. For the full album click here. To View More >>

Throwback Thursday! Royal New Zealand Navy September 1980 Intake Reunion (2010) Back in 2010, I had the pleasure of heading along to the RSA in Browns Bay and shooting the reunion of the September 1980 intake of the Royal New Zealand Navy. It was an interesting evening, with some interesting stories and some even more interesting characters tellng them. It takes a special kind of person to be able to cope with being away at sea on a boat for any length of time. And these are the people that volunteer to do so. Respect to each and every one of them! I've shot the McKay Family for many years now, starting with Jen & John's wedding way back in... let's just say way back. Previously we've used the park and beach as a backdrop, this time we set up in their home. This gave the kids the chance to choose their own props, which worked really well. We got some great shots! Next week I'll be putting out a Friends of Jen (& John!) portrait special so keep an eye on the Facebook page. It'll be an in-home special like this shoot, so it'll include me coming to your place plus some digital images. Will be interesting to see what kids choose To View More >>

Winter Party 2015 - A Night in Bollywood With colour so bright and vibrant it literally sent my camera's white balance mental, the Ruapehu Ski Club's annual Winter Party brought the bright lights of India's Bollywood to the moutain. Inspired by marigolds, incense, elephants and a vodka laced mango lassi, the building was transformed into the Lodge Mahal for the evening. Despite the weather conditions, and a closed mountain, we were still able to get the decorations up the mountain and ensure the party continued for the 85 members of the club who attended. The amazing chefs, Kirsty, Mike, To View More >>

Smokefree Band Quest 2015 Last year I went to my nephews Band Quest competition to take photographs and was lucky enough to hashtag my way to winning him a 20th Anniversary Fender Strat guitar, which was pretty cool. Yesterday I went along again to watch him and got to photograph him playing that very same guitar! I'm pretty biased, but he's super talented. And my only request is backstage passes for Aunty Heidi once he's famous. \ To View More >>

The arena being flooded this week after all the rain made for some cool reflection shots of Sparky and his owner Tammy this weekend. To View More >>

Today I shot my friend Alan's Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, before it was shipped off to it's next owner. Alan very kindly (or recklessly...) let me attempt to drive it awhile back, since I'd never driven a manual transmission before. Not sure if Alan has a death wish or not. But I think I only stalled it three times in 400 metres sooooo... I'm pretty much counting that as being able to drive stick right now. To View More >>

I went along to both Huntly & Western Springs Speedway tracks and photographed a different type of motorsport. These ones go round and round, not just in straight lines! So weird, these speedway racer types. So a very different experience to drag racing. There's certainly a lot more dirt flying around and a lot more opportunities to take photos for each race. Seven seconds isn't exactly a lot of time to get the shot right. There's also a lot less fuel fumes to blind you on the start line, but despite all that I'm still on the drag racing side of the fence so they'll be no allegiance To View More >>

Happy Anniversary Day Auckland! Here's a shot of some of the wildlife that comes and hangs out in my back yard in Whenuapai. What do you get in yours? To View More >>
