Welcome

I'm a photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I have shot a variety of projects, including portraits, fine art landscapes and product photography for businesses. I have also shot motorsports for something a little more challenging. In my spare time, I'm currently working on a timelapse series of New Zealand having recently included Lake Tekapo and Aoraki (Mount Cook) to the list.

I've wanted a drone for awhile now but have held off until the software was smarter. Mostly because previous experiences with flying things remotely has never really gone well for me, and flying $4,000+ over a cliff does not appeal to my inner Scrooge.  The DJI Spark was released which not only has intelligent flight modes, but an excellent return-to-home feature which appealed as a place to start.  Day 1 I almost lost a finger. A month or so later I pulled a muscle, or nerve or something, jumping a fence to retrieve the drone from the gorse dense bush behind my house.  To View More >>

Spinning up some sunrise We were booked to stay in Guesthouse Gerði in between Jökulsárlón  and the village of Höfn. After being blown away by the Glacier Lagoon, the bar was set pretty high. As the sun set over Höfn, the sky lit up. Not with the Northern Lights, but with the last rays of the day.  Mini Pallet Coasters! Mini Pallet Coasters! Visited Iceland in November and it was stunningly beautiful. Unfortunately it rained (and POURED) most of the time we were there so I did not get as many photos as I would have liked but the experience itself was incredible.  After landing in Keflavik International Airport the lovely Odin from Ace Rental Cars collected us from the airport and took us to their office to pick up our rental car. This meant no waiting in queues at the airport and Odin was friendly and helped us start off in the right direction. Ace is a family owned business and they were lovely to deal with. To View More >>

Today I shot my friend Alan's Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, before it was shipped off to it's next owner. Alan very kindly (or recklessly...) let me attempt to drive it awhile back, since I'd never driven a manual transmission before. Not sure if Alan has a death wish or not. But I think I only stalled it three times in 400 metres sooooo... I'm pretty much counting that as being able to drive stick right now.  To View More >>

I went along to both Huntly & Western Springs Speedway tracks and photographed a different type of motorsport. These ones go round and round, not just in straight lines! So weird, these speedway racer types.  So a very different experience to drag racing. There's certainly a lot more dirt flying around and a lot more opportunities to take photos for each race. Seven seconds isn't exactly a lot of time to get the shot right. There's also a lot less fuel fumes to blind you on the start line, but despite all that I'm still on the drag racing side of the fence so they'll be no allegiance To View More >>
